YOUTH CAPITAL

Youth unemployment is one of the biggest social challenges SA faces today. Youth Capital is one of the organisations fighting to support unemployed youth.

I’ve been working with them for many years on various projects:

YOUTH CAPITAL ANIMATION

Right before the pandemic hit, Youth Capital launched a nation wide project to train youth to become skilled Social Advocates in their communities. I wrote & directed this short animation, in collaboration with WeAreBatch, to share the project with youth around the country.

INFLUENCER NETWORK

In partnership with Vanessa Thomas-Lowndes from The T Room, I worked with the Youth Capital team to design a curriculum that trains youth in Community Development & Advocacy skills. There was, of course, a strong emphasis on storytelling skills.

Because of the lockdown, we had to adjust our approach to an online learning experience.

In collaboration with all the participants from the Influencer Programme, we produced a low-fi video for social media. It helped promote campaign and it was a great learning opportunity for the youth, in how to use accessible tools to produce influential online content.
